The top 10 rating is headed by the novel of the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy’s “War and Peace”. On the second place stays the dystopia-novel “1984” of the British writer George Orwell. The third place took one of the cult books of the XX century of the Irish writer James Joyce’s “Ulysses.” On the fourth – the novel written by American writer of the Russian origin, Vladimir Nabokov’s “Lolita.” The one that completes the top five best books of all time is “Sound and the Fury” by American writer William Faulkner.

The top 10 also includes “Invisible Man” by Ralph Ellison, “To the Lighthouse” by Virginia Woolf, “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen, “Divine Comedy” by Dante Alighieri. What is interesting is that the eighth place was divided by “Iliad” and “Odyssey” of Homer, which, according to Newsweek Press and many other publishing houses, is one and the same book.
